The European Covered Bond Council (ECBC) is pleased to announce that Alpha Bank A.E., has become the latest institution to join the Council. Accordingly, the ECBC now represents 121 members from across more than 30 active covered bond jurisdictions around the world.
Alpha Bank A.E. is one of the four systemic banks in Greece with a market capitalisation of €2.64 bn. It is the parent company of the Alpha Bank Group, which has subsidiaries in Romania, Albania, Cyprus and the UK. Alpha Bank’s total outstanding covered bonds amount to €2.5 bn and it is the second Greek issuer to join the ECBC.
Commenting on Alpha Bank A.E.’s admission as a member, Luca Bertalot, EMF-ECBC Secretary General said:
“We are delighted to welcome Alpha Bank A.E. and we look forward to their valuable contribution to our activities. For the ECBC, expanding its membership base in Greece is a sign of the continued development of the country’s covered bond market and recognition of the added value that our work brings to the covered bond community.”
