On 27 March 2019, the EU Ambassadors approved the Council’s position on a proposed Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on credit servicers, credit purchasers and the recovery of collateral.
The directive aims to harmonise rules for how non-credit institutions can buy credit agreements from banks while reducing the existing banks’ stock of NPLs and preventing their accumulation in order to guarantee financial stability.
