On 16 May 2019, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published an update on the impact assessment on the implementation of Basel III that it is currently finalising in response to the European Commission’s call for advice received on 4 May 2018.
The findings of the assessment in the areas of credit risk, operational risk, output floor and securities financing transactions will be published in a report by the end of July 2019. The findings in the area of market risk and CVA will be published at a later stage, owing to the later completion of these parts of the Basel III framework. The EBA reports that the assessment is based on a comprehensive data collection and supplemented with evidence provided by the banking industry in the form of a qualitative questionnaire.
Before the publication of its advice to the European Commission, the EBA will present the quantitative findings and its main policy recommendations at a public hearing, which will be held at the EBA premises in Paris on 2 July 2019, from 15:00 to 18:00 CET.
